BIID STUDENT DESIGN CHALLENGE
The British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) Student Design Challenge was a competition open to final year interior design students from universities across the UK. In a team of 5-7 students, we were given a brief to design a co-living and co-working building for a variety of residents in Whitby, Yorkshire. Adapting and reusing a former nursing home, it was important for the proposed design to promote wellbeing, inclusivity and sustainability. The judges were impressed with my team’s approach to this project because of our careful consideration into the residential accommodations and circulation spaces. Ensuring neurodiversity was specified in the furnishings and sustainable materials and energy efficient methods were integrated all throughout the final design.
