PROJECT 2 |
ART & DESIGN
COMMUNITY SPACE
The project was to renovate the Bargehouse building located on the South Bank of London next to the famous OXO Tower. The proposed design must include key values of sustainability, collaboration, innovation, ethical work practices and eco-friendly approaches to design. Therefore, the concept was to design a community space that can bring all these values together. The overall design aims to encourage people from all backgrounds to create memorable connections through learning traditional crafts and giving back to the community through exhibitions, pop-up art markets and workshop activities. This all reflects back to the historic local art & design background of South Bank. From the 1851 Great Exhibition to the 1951 Festival of Britain and today’s modern events of the London Design Festival.
